A Message From Melody
Yoga is both the most challenging, and the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me.
Let's start by wiping the slate clean! Go ahead and do a mental reboot to forget everything you've read or seen about yoga. Forget the fancy studios, forget the million-dollar yoga pants, and please try to forget the images of celebrities and fitness models with 6-pack abs in upside down poses. Yes, that all comes with the territory, but let's take a moment to talk about yoga as it applies to you and me in this moment right now. Have you ever thought about yoga as a means to help you wake-up in the morning? What about yoga that helps you focus at work, or yoga that makes you feel confident and alive with purpose? Or how about a yoga practice to feel grounded and connected? The possibilities of what can come are endless, and all you have to do is decide to begin.
After experiencing first hand the effects of an uneven work-life balance on the nervous system, and the impact it can have on one's overall sense of well-being, I began teaching yoga and mindfulness meditation. I teach to empower individuals on their unique journey, to educate about the complex relationship the mind and body share, and to break negative socially-constructed ideas about practicing yoga.
At the end of the day I am a human just like everyone else. I have pain and trauma in my past, questions about the present, and uncertainty of the future. But everyday I come to realize a bit more, that's not ALL that I am. I have aspirations! I have things I care deeply about and I have a soul that drives me forward. (And you do too!)
Yoga is the journey of the self, by the self, through the self; where we come to discover truths about life and take the lessons learned up off the mat and out into the world. Join me on this incredible adventure! Sat Nam!
